Global Juice Feast

Hey everyone, I noticed that raw foods recipes are dime a dozen on the net, but juice recipes, especially juice feasting recipes are pretty rare. So I thought it would help of we started a thread of combos/recipes to use for the feast.

My favorite so far is Celery/Spinach/Parsley/Cucumber/Pear. This combo is particularly cleansing and helps if your GIT is a little backed up since pear juice is a mild laxative. It's also delish! The spinach and one whole cucumber make up the bulk in my mix, and one pear is enough to add a nice sweet flavor. Then 3 sticks of organic celery (I use leaves, bases and all) and 4 sprigs of parsley for the rest.

Post up everyone. Cheers!

I'm just getting started with this juicing thing, adn one might say I have a strong stomache, but I made a gallon this morning: 1 bunch Kale, 1 bag spinache, a pound of broccoli (stems too) about 7 Roma tomatos (were on sale) quite a few juicing carrots, some cranberries, red grapes, a couple pears, and a few valencia oranges.

Spinach, Broccoli, 1 large lemon with peel (really compliments the greens, and I have just heard that it keeps juice from oxidizing so fast) green apples.

Day 2 for me...here is my creation for the day. I needed a savory tangy warming concoction, but without starting up any of the heartburn I (used to) struggle with!
ENJOY!
I just had a very greeeeen combo! I was not sure what it would end up like but it was savory and delish!!
The MexiVeginator!!
CELERY -leaves and all (filled bottom 1/4 of lg VitaMix)
1/2 bunch purple KALE
2 large handfuls ARUGULA (rocket)
1/2 bunch CILANTRO
1/2 container ALFALFA SPROUTS
2 large/ripe TOMATOES
1 TOMATILLO (green hard sour mexican style tomato)
1/2 LEMON peel and all
1/4 GREEN BELL PEPPER
small knob GINGER
slice of RED ONION
a few dashes of CAYENNE
1 TB HEMP OIL
That made a full VitaMix and strained down to 1 and 1/2 quarts
I know it is a big recipe, but WOW!!
Where I live is friggin' freezin'!!!! And my DH gave me his chest cold, so I needed warmth and sustenence! This filled my bill and my belly!

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my juices being way too bitter, from the greens. Since you're saying you use mostly spinach in your favorite recipe, could you tell me what quantity of juice you're making. The total amount changes the ratio of spinach to everything else. Thanks!

Adding some carrots or apples will sweeten up the bitterness. I juice bittermelon and always add an apple for this reason.

This is such a godsend...will be printing many of these tasty nutritional morsels down for future reference....b/c I experiment, pull out the books and it's getting a wee bit ole' so to speak...but every day it does seem to reinvent itself, doesn't it???!!!!

Several of yours are my favs too & love THE NAMES you're giving 'em...love the tomato ones with basil & jalapeno....true virgin BMary flavor!

All the greens are better than I ever imagined even when I put in the kitchen sink of 8-10 veggies or sprouts or adding superfoods, ...like some of you have! If I put too much in and it's bitter, I add more sweet potato, or apple or pear....Haaa....and lemon to prevent oxidation and keep it pretty green!
(although I do miss my smoothie shakes right about now so on a temptation day I'll add some tocophenerol flakes to water and add my herbsway creme d' chocolate or their blueberry...yummmmm - it also helped when my face was breaking out from detox - soothing! oh, and I do need to chew on bee pollen for sure)

When went thru my facial detox around day 16 I stayed away from the fruit ones and just beginning to bring them back in now that's outta me...I missed 'em!

Honeydew melon all by itself is my all time favorite fruit one!

One I just tried the other day:

Cilantro, sweet potato, spinach, fresh dill, celery, cucumber, pear

To help move out candida I tried: A few broccoli flowerets, 1 garlic clove, 4-5 carrots, 2 celery stalks, 1/2 green pepper...and I've even added some tomato to this too...delish.

I love pineapple, ginger and pear...
" Apple. kiwi, pear

I adore 1 Beet, 1/4 " or more ginger, apple, carrots

I've been experimenting with dill alot: Kale, swisschard, lime, cucumber, celery, fresh dill, parsley, cilantro, hot jalapeno....yummmm

I've been trying asparagus & zucchini too lately: spinach (or collards, kale, dandelion), celery, asparagus, tomato...added zucchini instead of cucumber...

I have enjoyed the fennel flavor tremendously too...Dandelion, carrot, red pepper or orange, celery, jerusalem artichokes or sunchokes, arugula, fennel, cucumber

Spinach, cilantro, fresh Aloe Vera, pear, lemon, tangerine or orange

I tried one with red radish the other day for first time...and plan on trying adding Daikon tomorrow...

I try to make enuf for two days now...makes life alot easier...

Going to try this to add to my tea today:
1/2" ginger, 1 orange peeled, add to tea and dash of cinnamon.

Last few days haven't lost much...how is everyone doing? I'm down 18 lbs in 26 days! I think I'm over the hump so to say...had a few bumps (needed to chew some veggies or cracker), but on a smooth sail lately

Someone posted earlier about bitter melon so I decided to try one... I used
1/2 bitter melon
2 red tomatoes
3 stalks of swiss chard
2 cloves of garlic and
1/2 field cucumber.
This combo covered the bitterness of the melon quite well. I think it might taste even better with a little flax oil added in.

What is bitter melon? I live in Washington state and I'm not sure if I've ever seen this. Is it sweet or savory? I'm thinking savory if it is called "bitter".

They are supposed to be excellent for regulating blood sugar levels because they contain Gurmarin - similar to bovine insulin. I find them quite bitter. If you do a google search for "bitter melon photo" several pics come up (looks like a bumpy light skin cucumber). I live in northern Canada and had no problem finding them.
