Global Juice Feast

Hey everyone, I noticed that raw foods recipes are dime a dozen on the net, but juice recipes, especially juice feasting recipes are pretty rare. So I thought it would help of we started a thread of combos/recipes to use for the feast.

My favorite so far is Celery/Spinach/Parsley/Cucumber/Pear. This combo is particularly cleansing and helps if your GIT is a little backed up since pear juice is a mild laxative. It's also delish! The spinach and one whole cucumber make up the bulk in my mix, and one pear is enough to add a nice sweet flavor. Then 3 sticks of organic celery (I use leaves, bases and all) and 4 sprigs of parsley for the rest.

Post up everyone. Cheers!

On my Juice Feast last year, I choked down a lot of yukky tasting stuff before I hit upon one recipe I liked. Then I just stuck with that one (a gazpacho-inspired juice). This year I am using a whole new juice-making method that is working out so well that I want to share it with you all. I'm on day 4 of the feast, and ALL the juice I've made is yummy, and that includes about 8 recipes. Here's the deal: I start by juicing in the Green Power all the "foundational" stuff SEPARATELY. Apples, carrots, celery (my staples) plus whatever else strikes my fancy - beets, yams.... At this stage I may also open a coconut and put the water in another jar and juice some lemons.
After this stage I have jars of individual juices.

Next I bring out all the greens and extra things (like red peppers, garlic, ginger, etc.) that will go in the blender, I start to imagine what would taste good with what. I also try to keep it simple.

And the important thing is: I only mix up a little of my concoction and taste it for palatability, and adjust as needed before expanding it into a larger amount. For example, tlhis morning, I blended a handful of kale, 1/2 bunch of parsley, and 1/4 bunch of cilantro with a small amount of apple juice. After straining it, I mixed a small amount of that with a bit of carrot juice and fiddled with it until I had added in all 8 oz of carrot juice and 16 oz of apple juice. It was great!

I rather enjoy that I don't always end up with an even quart of something. Today I had 8 jars of various concoctions - every one luscious!! It's only fair to mention that so far, all this tasting and fiddling does take more time. I was an hour late for work the first day......... :-D

Here are some more combos that I have enjoyed and look forward to repeating:

6 oz yam juice + 12 oz apple juice

8 oz pear juice + 4 oz beet juice + 4 oz apple juice

10 oz each apple, carrot, beet juice

16 oz apple juice + 6 oz celery juice + small handfuls of each: parsley, dino kale, dandelion

water of one coconut + small handful each: parsley, dino kale, dandelion (blended in a bit of water)

8 oz celery juice + 16 oz apple juice + 1 bunch dandelions + 1/2 bunch cilantro

12 oz each carrot and celery juice + 4 cloves garlic + 1 large head romaine + 1/2 bunch parsley + 1 large red pepper

Cool beans! Or I should say cool greens!!! (cool beans was a saying when I was a kid).

I really like your technique. I do something similar but don't have a lot of time in the morning for messing around, but I will juice greens - a lot - and put them in the VM with different things and taste then strain.

Whatever gets you the day!

Here are some more delicious combinations that have evolved from this process:

1 grapefruit, 2 oranges (both juiced in citrus juicer), + 1/2 bunch arugula

16 oz mixed grapefruit/organe juice, + 5 collard leaves (OR 1 bunch parsley)

12 oz carrot juice + 4 oz fennel juice

6 oz fennel juice + 12 oz apple juice + 12 oz celery juice + 1 bunch cilantro

12 oz fennel juice + 12 oz apple juice + 6 oz celery + 1 bunch parsley

8 oz celery juice + 8 oz apple juice + 1 large red pepper + 1 bunch cilantro + several cloves garlic + small knob ginger

10 oz. celery juice + 4 oz carrot juice + 4 cloves garlic + 1 head romaine + 1/2 bunch parsley + handful mixed green sprouts (a daily favorite - salad juice)

16 oz apple juice + 4 ripe bartlett pears + 1 bunch parsley

16 oz apple juice + 8 oz yam juice + 1 bunch kale + small knob ginger

12 oz celery juice + 16 oz apple juice + 6 oz beet juice + 1 bunch cilantro + 1 bunch red chard with stems + small knob ginger (makes about 1 1/2 qts)

I enjoyed your pineapple recipe today - OUTSTANDING!!!
For folks who like proportions, I used:

16 oz celery juice + 16 oz pineapple juice + 1 smallish head romaine + 1 bunch cilantro + juice of 1 lime + 1 tsp hemp oil + 1/8 tsp cayenne

my base juice right now is: bok choy + celery + cucumber + apple + lemon or lime + ginger. once made, i parcel the juice into separate jars and add supplements like spirulina, msm, wheatgrass etc. the combination is earthy, mild and really clears the system.

Tastes like koolaide, sort of:

2 lb. red grapes
1.5 heads celery

It's much much more sweet than something I would ordinarily have.

I f you like a sweet licorice taste try this one.

i bunch lettuce
1/2 c. fennel, or more
1 med. apple
1 med. yam
4 stalks celery

Makes about 1 L.

If you want to keep it less sugar add cucumber and a little ginger and Lime. Cayenne and Lime are very good
together. Or use sweet potato. It is good for the pancrease,

I juiced for a month last year.Had to stop, I loose weight easy. I m only 5' 1 and 95 lbs. May only do a week right now.
I m going to try more yams, carrots, etc. to keep weight and build muscle. Pineapple and garlic is good. Really!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that according to Doug Graham and the 80/10/10 diet high sugars or carbs with low fat
is ok.for high blood sugar issues. High fat interferes with insulin function when the diet also includes high carbs.
