Global Juice Feast

Hey everyone, I noticed that raw foods recipes are dime a dozen on the net, but juice recipes, especially juice feasting recipes are pretty rare. So I thought it would help of we started a thread of combos/recipes to use for the feast.

My favorite so far is Celery/Spinach/Parsley/Cucumber/Pear. This combo is particularly cleansing and helps if your GIT is a little backed up since pear juice is a mild laxative. It's also delish! The spinach and one whole cucumber make up the bulk in my mix, and one pear is enough to add a nice sweet flavor. Then 3 sticks of organic celery (I use leaves, bases and all) and 4 sprigs of parsley for the rest.

Post up everyone. Cheers!

Apple Minty (my favorite this week)
3 apples
.5 cucumber
1 hand full of mint
3 handfuls of salad greens
sprinkle of cinnamon
I blend a handful of mint with salad greens (1/4 cup water in blender) and strain it into my apple cucumber juice

I don't think that apple cider vinegar was mentioned in the JFeasting protocol and it is not raw, but, it is very alkalizing and It can make your drink taste like pickled red beets or a nice refreshing cucumber salad. Here's one I'm having for dinner:

1 parsnip
1 turnip
2 cucumbers
1 nice handful parsley
1/2 pepper (seeds an' all)
apple cider vinegar to taste
Pinch of sea salt

Bon Appetite!

My absolute favourite doesn't have greens, but it's apple, orange, watermelon and pineapple... so delicious and refreshing! And cheap ;-)

Today's First Veggie Juice ended up super yummy:

Celeriac
Chard (red)
Cilantro
Kale
Anaheim Pepper (1)
Lemon

Plus added in: my usual Tablespoon each of bee pollen and chlorella.
Super Yum! Oh, and I love the Celeriac after taste!

My favorite is any greens such as
kale, collards, dark romaine, etc,
cucumber
lots of cilantro
garilc
1/2 green apple
ginger
lemon or lime
opt; tiny pc of pepper(hot) or ceyanne
You could also add peppers or tomatoes to this if you desire.
Very delicious!

Sometimes I'll also add a bit of onion (tiny bit) to kick it up a notch in taste.

Another good one is savoy cabbage, pear and lime. Enjoy!

Yeay! A Low Glycemic Fruit Juice. Because of candida I have finally given up my regular fruit juices.
Came up with this for the rest of my feast:

Grapefruit
Nettles
Mint
Strawberry
Stevia

I am new to juice feasting, and am very confused by the ''recipes' that are listed on here. Most of them are very vague in quantities ..is this par for juicing? 'a handful' of this and 'toss' in that... it's not clear to me what the juices are supposed to taste like. Can anyone give me a better idea of quantities or should I consider this the norm for juice recipes ? thank you for your help...just me

Hi Ardie:

Yes, I can see that it is confusing to a newbie. What is going on is the desire to find a way to get those greens in (liquified in a VitaMix or other powerful blender, and then strained thru a mesh bag) and then make them taste good by adding more ingredients. So you blend your greens, strain them, set aside for a few minutes while you find ways to make them tasty. I put my greens juice in the freezer for the 10 minutes or so it takes me to juice the rest, and when I combine them they are nice and chilled.

The variables will always be what fruit you have that is ripe, etc. Going with the idea of getting in your 2# of greens daily, this works out to about 3-4 blender-fulls for me: 3/4 full of greens with enough water or juice to blend it.

I usually make big quantities of juice at once. For each blender-full of greens, you might need 1-2 cups of fruit or other veggies to get the right taste balance.

Lemons and limes are very helpful in improving the taste of greens. I like to add stevia and mint drops to my green base before adding other ingredients, so they become slightly minty and sweet. This helps a lot, and when I am in a hurry, I can just add this to grapefruit or lemon-ade and have a quick refreshing drink.

So the bottom line answer to your question is to just jump in and start experimenting and tasting, making conservative ingredient choices as you go so you end up liking the finished product. What tastes good to some people is yucky to others, so just keep tasting as you go.
