Global Juice Feast

Hey everyone, I noticed that raw foods recipes are dime a dozen on the net, but juice recipes, especially juice feasting recipes are pretty rare. So I thought it would help of we started a thread of combos/recipes to use for the feast.

My favorite so far is Celery/Spinach/Parsley/Cucumber/Pear. This combo is particularly cleansing and helps if your GIT is a little backed up since pear juice is a mild laxative. It's also delish! The spinach and one whole cucumber make up the bulk in my mix, and one pear is enough to add a nice sweet flavor. Then 3 sticks of organic celery (I use leaves, bases and all) and 4 sprigs of parsley for the rest.

Post up everyone. Cheers!

For maximum digestion, I've always learned that you don't mix melon with anything. Drink melon seperate from other produce. How was the canteloupe with the orange? Did you have gas or discomfort? Curious. I never did learn why you don't mix them I just assumed it was digestion.

I also learned not to mix melon with other fruits, but I thought because that was eating the whole fruit and flesh. juicing might be different. I haven't had any problems with gas or discomfort after drinking it and it has a very soothing and refreshing taste. I don't do it every day but I have had it twice so far.

That is good to know. I did read not to combine in a juicing book by Donna Pliner Rodnitzky "Ultimate Juicing". Great book by the way. I love all the creations. 125 of them! I am finding that I don't really need the guidance of a book though, I just follow my instincts. That has been a success so far and when it turns out a little too green for my taste I just add lemon until I can drink it. HA!

That's funny Gina, my green juice last night wasn't tasting as good as I wanted so I added lemon. It really is a taste adjuster and makes almost anything palatable! Your gazpacho idea sounds good, I'm going to try it. Happy juicing!

Today I had 1 Mango, 5 limes, 2 cups raspberry juiced..it was heaven..it still is..taking it in the bath with me!! lol

My favorites are (for a quart):

* 2 beets (either red or golden), bunch spinach and 2 pears
* 1 pineapple, blackberries, bunch kale and 1-2" ginger (pineapple and blackberries blended and strained, kale and ginger juiced, then mixed before drinking)
* Romaine, celery, cucumber, carrot, apple, dandelion, cilantro and red pepper
* Honeydew and bunch mint

grapefruit celery (1:1)
love it!
1 head of celery and 3 grapefruits seems to make 1 litre

Pure pineapple! Ah! Also amazing if you add some fresh mint leaves. This is a brazilian favorite; Abacaxi com hortela.

-celery, kale, dandelion, romaine, cucumber, pear, radish, mint
-celery, spinach, dandelion, carrot, apple, ginger, parsley

What I've been doing that works really well is to make 2-3 quarts of 'green mix'. I use the head of celery and a lot of various greens including any combo of: spinach, chard, kale, dandelion greens, baby bok choy, romaine or other lettuces, tatsoi, carrot tops, beet greens, basically whichever greens look the freshest at the market. I make it in my vitamix and split it between my 4 quart containers. Then I add different veggies/fruits to fill up the rest of the containers- so I end up with about half a quart of green mix plus about half either pear-cuke-mint-radish-sunchoke, or lately the other has been carrot-apple-ginger-parsley. I'll usually end up with two quarts of each variety. It takes about an hour for the whole production and I'm done for the day. And often I end up with an extra pint of straight greens which I drink first thing.

Not feeling called to do a full Juice Feast? That's ok, neither am I. David Rain suggested I do a Modified Juice Feast based on certain aspects of my health and life. You don't have to follow any particular plan to do a Modified Juice Feast.
