HELP! Are Certain Vegetables Bad for Thyroid?

When I first went raw I lost a lot of hair. My doctor has since told me I may have hypothyroidism due to that and other symptoms. Back then I had eaten a lot of spinach- more than any other green. Recently I've read that kale and spinach inhibit thyroid function and shouldn't be included in juicing if you have this kind of thyroid problem. I wonder if anyone knows anything about this. I've been juicing with them since day one!

I've been using a lot of radish and kelp that seems to help. Flavor in kelp can be strong just need to adjust to taste when using.

I'm going to have to find kelp flakes from somewhere, I swear. No luck locally.

Try adding sea vegetables as well. It is the Iodine trace minerals in the kelp/sea vegetables that helps the thyroid.

Not sure about the greens however developing a structurally sound and safe headstand practice daily can help to balance the thyroid.

is hypothyroidism curable at all?

Eliminate flouride - water, toothpaste.

Add alkaline water, juice cilantro to help eliminate heavy metals, add omega 3 oils at high consumption...1 tbsp for every 50 lbs. as a matter of fact once you adjust to your weight add to 2 extra tbsps

>the side effects of eating cruciferous veggies

Health...if you too consume too much of one type over a long period you may get a bit nauseaus, and the solution is too switch to different green.

I didn't know about fluoride causing problems. If I use a water filter (like a brita will this remove the flouride?)

Reply to This

A Brita filter won't work...the best water is alkaline water...finding a pure, non-fluoride water is hard to find...but the next best are reverse osmosis, non-tap water.

Flouride is a toxic chemical, go to youtube to find videos and you will see it is nothing short of poison.

These foods can be eaten safely cooked (steamed, for example) because heating destroys the effect of goitrogens. Of course that means that if you want to maintain a 100% raw diet that you'd have to leave these off your menu!
