Global Juice Feast

Hi everyone! :)

Has anyone heard of not using any shampoo?? I know this isn't exactly food related but it's detox none the less. I recently started about 2 weeks ago and was wondering if anyone else here is doing it, and might have some long term experience.
Let me know! :)

Melinda

P.S. so far it's going well.

Hi Melinda -

Since starting the juice feast I stopped putting all that crap on my hair as well. I went a couple of days with only water but then my locks started to look too oily for my taste. Then for a week I washed it with castille soap every other day and followed with a apple cider vinegar/water rinse (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water - a cup of this for sholder length, a little more for longer). The castille soap really strips the hair so the apple cider vinegar acts as a conditioner. This worked well, other than the smell but my nose started to like it after a couple of washes. I am now using shampoo from Terressentials - you have to order it online. It's an organic mud shampoo, doesn't have anything toxic in it at all, and you don't need a conditioner. The price is pretty reasonable, especially since you're not paying for conditioner. My hair looks amazing! As far as toxicity, almost all styling products are out as well (though I'm sure you can get some raw, non-toxic ones somewhere). Hope this helps!

Sallie

I use Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap (lavender) -- and have not noticed any damage/stripping occuring to my hair -- I will occasionally use an organic leave-in conditioner, or preferably some coconut oil!

I stopped using poo quite a while ago. Every once in a while I will use some Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Shampoo (no-suds and only organic ingredients in it) if my hair feels weird. But other than that about once a month, just water. It took about a month for my hair to transition. My hair is much softer than before.
There is lots of info on the web about it. Some of the raw folks use OJ for shampoo, just be sure and strain it first so you don't leave pulp in your hair. LOL!
