Global Juice Feast

When you are cutting up your fruits and veggies, what keeps you from eating them! It's so tempting! I need some motivation tips!

I just don't go there mentally. I do not allow myself to think about eating it and I choose to stay focused on the things I can have, not the ones I can't. I still prepare food for my family, so I have become quite good at putting it out of my mind. I truly believe this is a skill and you get better with practice, and I have had a lot :)

It's funny, I just got home from teaching a cooking class. I kind of agree with Kristi. I really spent some time before the feast setting my intentions for why I wanted to juice feast. I am very clear on those intentions, and somehow that makes it easier to sit with the feelings that come up in those moments when I want to eat something. I am also really certain to get in a lot of self care during the day- meditation, bodywork, time with friends, exercise, coming here and checking in with others. I also have a few inspirational poems and quotes posted above where I make my juice as reminders of what this is about. And I am finding that the hour and a half I spend making my juice in the morning is turning into a meditation itself- I move through it slowly and gracefully, and the more gentle the process is, the more amazing the juice seems to taste every time. So I guess for me, each action I take has become quite intentional during this feast, which in the end makes me not so tempted by the food.

It was very significant for me in the beginning to realize how much popping things in my mouth was simply second nature. The first 2-3 days, while I was preparing my husband's supper (fortunately just salad) I caught myself a few times with my hand halfway to my mouth, or almost licking the spoon with which I mixed the dressing. It goes away!

Actually, truth be told, when cutting up pineapple I chew on a little piece and spit out the pulp. I enjoy the flavor burst and I make all kinds of Yummy noises.

I just finished doing the same to my pineapple...except I couldn't resist swallowing it. I promised myself to try harder next time.

What a good question and topic. I did my own trial juicefeast 2 weeks ago for 3 days straight. I did very well, but on the 3rd day as I was peeling and chopping I wanted to take a bite too! Tonight as I prepare, I'm going to think of all of starting together tomorrow and remind myself why I want to juice feast. David's 6 cd set really helped me. too We're all in this together! Good luck!

Hi Sarah,
I hope that you are well.
I prepare lots of stuff for my family.
I just tell myself that all this lovely produce is not going anywhere, as Judy Mazel says in the 'Beverly Hills Diet' "Nothing is leaving the Planet." It will still be there when we have finished juice feasting.
It is so worth feasting.
Those fruits and veggies may taste good, but they will still taste good when you have finished feasting; and they will taste just great in your juice.

It does get easier, as we carry on ,our bodies get programmed to 'juice' mode and then this becomes a 'habit', albeit a good habit.
Do have lots of nice things for yourself; whether this is a great inspiring book, a massage or some fun exercise.
In time juice will become your food and you will not see other foodstuffs in the same way.
Have a lovely day.
Love and peace,
from Anne .

Wise words Anne, I believe we are on the same day of our feasts, Day 29. The love as well as the juice is flowing now, for sure.

I agree. I'm only on day 4 and I no longer desire to nibble on the fruits and veggies. I'm happy with the juice! It feels so good!

Very inspiring words, Anne!
Thank you...I think I'll write them on a card and keep them where I can see them for those tempting moments! Tomorrow will be day 3 for me, so it's incredibly encouraging to read your words...great insight!

Wow Anne, something just clicked within me when I read that. When you suffer from food addiction, like I do, you see food from a position of lack. There can never be enough. My husband, for whom I make scrumptious salads in the evenings, constantly have to remind me to make smaller portions.

But now, I'm going to practise that concept. It will still be here tomorrow, or after the juice feast. That only applies to healthy food though. With all the other stuff I'm learning to tell myself that they're not good enough for my precious body!

Good luck on your journey!

Yesterday day 4 I had a few spoonfuls of quinoa and lentil dhal, its the first time I had an urge and it was motivated by cooking for my SO and by a desire of wanting to slow down my intense detox.

I reasoned with myself afterwards, this was a small slip and it helpe me to get to know myself better. I am picking up and moving forward. I have made lunch and dinner for my boyfriend and his son all 4 days from March 1 til today...yesterday night was my only slip so I think it was motivated by wanting to slow down detox. Just reason with yourself, talk it through and process the feelings behind wanting to tasted what you are preparing.
Love to you xo Dea
