Global Juice Feast

Ok I started with everyone else (Jan 3) and I am so happy and grateful to JF. I made Apple/Pear and I took in about 54oz and soon after I got it down I spent most of my time with the Porcelain Goddess. I must have gone about 8-10 times. Everything that I ate the day before came out. I wanted to go outside because it was about 80 here in Houston. Later I found myself driving over to a friend’s house and having to turn around because I had to poo some more.

Is this normal and will this happen every time I JF?

Could anyone tell me what I can do to make my greens taste better? I only like the fruit juice and don’t like all the greens.
If I only drink Fruit juice will I be ok?

Last why do we need to use the mason jars

Thanks so much

Pears and apples are really....cleansing.... Both have large amounts of pectin (soluble fruit fiber). I just juiced 4 asian pears w/ greens yesterday to "get the rest of the solid food out". 54 oz of straight apple/ pear sounds really intense, and it sounds like a lot of sugar for one pancreas to handle. Maybe you could try cutting it down with at least half cucumber/celery, if you're not into greens? Both give off a great slightly sweet slightly salty taste. Good luck on the rest of your feast!

Hi Bella,

Congratulations on your first Juice Feast! And you are from H-Town!

As Kait says, apples and pears, because of the pectin, do provide a "liquid plumber" effect. It is not unheard of to have many, many BMs in a day for the first 1-2 weeks of a Juice Feast (not that this will happen every day, but there will be days...). This is good. You are doing this to release old matter that you don't need in your system, to heal and feel amazing.

Drinking only fruit juice will be very hard on your system, and we have designed the Juice Feast will less fruit juice, more Green Vegetable Juice. High-glycemic foods and juices give just about every organ and system in your body a hard time, so we want low-glycemic alkalinizing juices that taste wonderful. And it can take time to adjust your tastes to greens, but this is so crucial to your long-term health.

A really tasty green juice is apple-spinach-cucumber-celery. Definitely make this juice in a blender and strain it with a nutmylk bag. Kale is also a green that is lighter in taste, and parsley is energizing and tasty.

On the Mason jars, the reason we use them is they measure a quart, are inexpensive (if you break them), they seal up well, and they are glass - which does not leave a plastic taste in your mouth.

Make sure that you read the entire Juice Feasting Intro on JuiceFeasting.com, and pay particular attention to the Making Beautiful Juices page.

We are so glad you are here! Please keep writing and engage with the community here!

To make my greens taste better, I use a few drops of organic peppermint extract and a bit of stevia. Once I have a sweet, minty base, it mixes well with everything.

Oh Yes! I remember when I started the jf last year. The first few days, nothing. Then one day later, I started and I thought I would never stop. My bottom was so sore. So you see, it is quite normal. I just needed to remember, when I thought it was gas, it wasn't gas. You are going to do just fine. Adding apples to your green juice really improves the taste. David has giving you the perfect combination for your green juice. Kait is right about the celery and cucumber. It gives you that sweet and salt balance. If you just need sweet, do some carrot juice.

Happy Juice Feast,
Tuliza

My favorite Green juice is an entire bunch of spinach, 5 to 7 kale leaves, 1/2 lemon and 2 apples. It is delicious and by far my favorite drink. The lemon cuts the taste of the greens so you can't really taste them. It tastes a lot like lemonade. I started my Juice Feast a day earlier on the 2nd. The first 2 days were really challenging to get through but I feel much more in the groove now.

Great info about the apples. I had more apple than I usually do in any juices I make and had the same effect. I also must say that the body does change and I got to the point where I crave the green smoothies/juices and find adding fruit to sweet. Occassionally I will put some in for variety but I prefer kale ones and salsa with lots of spinach, maybe lettuce and lots of cilantro. Lemon in each of mine really helps.

Keep going you are doing great!!!!!

Hi Bella,

I used to live in Houston and loved it. My sister still lives there so I get to visit often. I'm able to tolerate greens if I add cucumber to it. I add one to every green juice and it allows me to throw every time of green imaginable into the juice without it becoming to 'green' for me.

I spend anywhere from 40 - 100 a week at my local farmer's market. They tend to be cheaper than grocery stores if you can't find bulk or straight from the farm somewhere. You can search for organic produce by zipcode at this URL and see if anything comes up that may help http://www.lime.com/local/national/organic+produce.

Good luck on your juice feast!

I'm sure you've heard it all, but without reading all the comments I will give you my thoughts! Hope they're helpful.

Only doing fruit in your juices is going to be very hard on your body because fruits are full of natural sugars. My suggestion is making a fruit-veggie mix b/c the only thing you'll really taste is the fruit anyway. Pineapple and apple always are great fruits to take away the veggie taste. Beets are good veggie to add because they are sweet anyway, as well as carrots. The good thing is that you will still get the benefits of the veggies. Pear and apple pulp are full of soluble fibers, meaning they are basically going to flush out all those toxins that our body reserves. This is a good thing, although it's not too fun at first.

As for the mason jars: they just won't pick up any taste like plastic will. If you have another glass container, use that. I have a nice glass pitcher I use. I'm sure they suggest Mason because they're inexpensive and readily available to anybody.

Last, here's some of my favorite drinks, I hope that they help ya. Happy Health!
*1/4 of a pineapple, 1 cucumber, 1 apple, 1/4″ slice of ginger root
*4 carrots, 1 apple, 1 clove of garlic
*1/2 of a cantaloupe with skin, 1/2″ slice of ginger
*4 carrots, 1 apple, 1/4″ slice of ginger root, a few leaves of cabbage
*1 beet root, 3 carrots, 1 apple
*handful of strawberries, 1 kiwi, 1 apple
*1 ruby red grapefruit, 1 apple
*1 orange, 1 ruby red grapefruit, 1/4″ slice of ginger
