Hello! I really want to get started on this juice feast. The trouble is I can not get through day one with out the chips calling me to dip and eat them and the choc.....whoops, sorry i will not mention any other food! I know if I can get through day 3 I will be able to go longer. If I lived alone, I think I would just clear all this out but I live with 2 teens and a partner who are not interested and leave tempting food around.
Any hints to just get past the hurdle?
warmly,
Nancy
I am in a similar situation and the thing is the eating thing is just a habit... I tell myself I am eating it is just in liquid form. I have fasted or feasted before and for me at least it gets easier each time I do it, however, the first day of my fast this time my lovely family had frozen pizza because I am not cooking for awhile and they left a few pieces lying around in the kitchen and there was a little bite all by itself left from improper cutting, damn them!, and it called to me and I found my brain saying oh go ahead it's just a bite, but I knew me and I knew that that would be the end of the fast and I would have to start all over again. I really watch and listen for all of those conditioned responses and when I catch myself I tell myself that this is for me and I am worth it. Also it helps to enlist their support explaining that it is really difficult the first few days and that they can help you by not leaving food lying around, but the truth is if you were in the right frame of mind in the first place nothing could turn you. So make sure you have that heart to heart with your self and love yourself enough to want to be whole and healthy!
Hi Nancy, I hear ya! I thought I would be able to just get going, no problem..... especially since I've done other fasts and a 14 day JF in the past. Well now it's day 4 and I still haven't made it through the day without food yet. However, what I have noticed is that I'm having way less cravings and am starting to enjoy my green juice. I think green juice is the key here, the more nutrition you put in, the less we crave to try to make up for our nutritional deficiences. So what I've been learning is DRINK GREEN JUICE and don't be too hard on myself, I'm getting there. One step at a time. Just remember, be kind to yourself, you will get there. And hopefully, your family can help you out in the meantime, as I know that can be super challenging. I have two girls..7 and 11 and a husband that supports me, but is not interested in joining me. Thank goodness we have this great space to communicate with like minded others when we need that loving support. Good luck, you can do it!

Thank you Alice and Micki. I will be trying again on sunday. I plan to do some cooking for my family the rest of this week and put in the freezer and get some supplies for me. Thank you for the support. I think that will be helpful. I really do need to do this.
warmly,
Nancy
I said to myself starting this JF this time that I would permit myself to make my own choices rather than following all the guidelines set by a raw juice feast. I have the Angela Stokes book and have read it up and down but I needed to find what worked for me and to listen to my body. I have the habit of emotionally eating too so finding food laying around or smelling different foods can get me excited. I have found that the 4 days I am on this JF, my body tells me when its dinner time and no juice can get me past this feeling for reaching for something solid. I find if I take a few handfuls of nuts or a very small salad with lemon juice and olive oil it will get me through the intensity then I go on with JF throughout the evening. I'm finding the dinner period intensity has lessened as the days go by and it is my goal to be not reach for these solids eventually. In the interim, I will not shame myself for reaching for solids as I am reaching for raw varieties and receiving the same nutrition. This has lessened the immediacy of my JF but for now it works for me. I also read a few lines in the morning and in the evening from over eaters anonymous and a handful of other meditation books.
It makes so much difference the extent to which the people you live with support you. If you haven't already, then you must ask them to stop leaving that food lying around. That said, it is really important not to lay blame on anyone or anything other than yourself. YOU control yourself, not the food, not the people around you. Taking responsibility for your actions BEFORE they happen will empower you.
I know it is sometimes easier said than done, but it is definately all in the mind initially, and gettig yourself into the right frame of mind is the key to success. Keep checking back to your sources of inspiration, like this website and Juicefeasting.com to help you when it gets tough.

Hey Nancy! My dad used to say:"it ain't eazy bein greezy" Once stuff is in us, it don't like to get out!
It's true! Once we are conditioned (ummnnghgh??!? Does the name "Pavlov" ring a bell?), our being rejects change. This is true for all aspects of us. The Spirit, mind, body connection is tough once it is either "set", or has become comfortably complacent.
I am struggling also, and have been 60-90% raw for 9 years. One year I went 100% raw...WoooHooo!!!
I still managed to digress.
This year on the GJF I am reading Victoria Boutenko's "Green for Life". This is the best way to get out of the trap you are finding yourself in. (see my blog: "Subtraction by Addition").
I am finding this is the best help yet.
I was a GJF"r last year, and now I am at it again. Victoria's book is the best 15 bucks I have spent on directions in years.
Go get 'em gal, I am rootin for ya!
