I was wondering if anyone has ever done a green smoothie feast or fast? I have a done a 30 day juice fast and was thinking about doing a green smoothie feast (leaving in the fiber in by blending instead of juicing). I would love to know if anyone ...
Hey, Robin! How's it going? Wondering how you made out with starting the Juice Feast. I know you were having a hard time getting started. I know that very well, because it describes virtually ever program I've ever been on to improve my health. I don't know what exactly has made this click with me so unbelievably well, but I wish I could package it up and send it to you. I have said to you before, though, that going raw is really something...I haven't even come close to getting to that. That is a very far goal for me. To answer your question, I do juice all my juices in the morning. At first, I didn't like that idea because everything I had read about juicing before talked about drinking your juices right away so as not to lose any enzymes/nutrients, and it just didn't seem right. On the other hand, there is NO WAY I could juice several times a day, and go through the whole thing to make a fresh juice each time. I'm over it! :) Sending you warm, peaceful, positive wishes. Hope you're well. Tracy
Hi! Great to hear from you. Yes, I'm still plugging away. I'm not even sure what day it is, but close to 70, I think. To answer your question, I don't drink fruit juice on the Juice Feast. First, I'm really trying to cleanse, so I'm trying to rid myself of candida, if I have it (I don't have any reason to believe that I do). Also, I just don't want all that extra sugar for all the various reasons, including calories! :) To make my drinks sweeter, I use carrots and beets, and I add tons of ginger to make them more palatable. I am loving green juices, and am really not looking forward to getting off the JF. That is not to say I am not craving some foods, but I get over it really fast. What did you decide to do about juicing? Are you still going strong with raw? Whatever's going on, check in when you get a chance. Thanks so much for checking in with me, and for the words of support. Back at you! Tracy
Hi. I feel great. I got through the major detox stuff (took a few days). Today is day 17!
You are definitely NOT the only one! There are lots and lots of vegan raw fooders around here. We have about two pot lucks a month. The best one is in Ashland the last Monday of every month. E-mail me if you want to come.
Hey! Today is my halfway point (46th day of 92), so a bit of a milestone. Yes, I feel fantastic, and I have experienced tremendous weight loss. I, too, have about 20 more pounds to lose, maybe a bit more. Won't know 'til I get close. Listen, feel good about your "rawness". This I can not get myself to do. I can't even get to vegetarian! So we can all look around and wish we could "get to" some other thing, but you should be proud of being raw, and I will be proud of being juicy...you try more juice, and I'll try more raw. There! :) I don't post all that often, so if you want to "check in" on me, I blog here: http://zensibilia.blogspot.com/ Take good care of yourself. Tracy
I tend to use my Vitamix for all my juices. I also have a Champion Juicer, but it just seems more efficient to throw everything in the Vitamix. I also have an electric citris juicer that I use sometimes for grapefruits and oranges, etc. If I can get an organic watermelon, I will juice the rind as well, since it has lots of chlorophyll. I actually throw it into the vitamix, rind and all.
My Day 2 today was not too pleasant. Major headache all day. I did not go through any detox symptoms with my first JF, so I was surprised at feeling so crummy. I also hurt my back last week while traveling and have been going to a chiropractor, icing, etc. Taking a couple of hours in the morning to juice has been a challenge with my back pain and it hasn't been the joyful experience I remember it to be. My chiro suggested that I not confuse my system in asking it to detox while it was trying to heal some sprained joints in my back, so I decided to stop the JF this evengin and wait until my back is pain free. The JF should be a challenge but not a struggle, and it just isn't the right time for me.right now, and I'm OK with that :-)
How is it going for you? Your green lemonade sounds very tasty! I tend to just buy a variety of greens and sometimes I whip up something tasty and sometimes I just try to drink it real quick to get it down. I usually add cayenne in at least one GVJ. I've seen that Katrina has said that she pretty much made the same juices every day and stuck with a combo that she liked, so I think that may be a good strategy.
Glad to see another Oregonian here. I've only been in the area for about a year, so I'm not familiar with where you live. (I'm originally from NJ, and lived in MI for 5 yrs before moving to Portland). How far from Portland are you?
I'm not working right now, so I've got time for juicing, brushing, etc. Today was my Day 1 and I don't quite have my routine down yet. What is your schedule like?
The first time I JF'd, I set out to do it only for 1 week, but I got into a routine and felt great, so I continued, taking it one week at a time (and ended after 3 weeks). If you break it into mini-goals, it may make it a bit easier.
Let me know if you decide to crank up the juicer/vitamix again.
Robin, I'm going for 92 days, breaking my feast just in time for Thanksgiving (gives me a few days of green smoothies in between). Do I feel good? I feel tremendous! I am happy, my skin is glowing, my eyes are brighter, my digestive system is improved (I always felt "bloaty"), and I have dropped "almost" two pant sizes - - I'm about to go down to the next size. I almost feel guilty for having such an easy time of it, since I know some people have a really hard time. I did a 12-day juice fast before I started the feast (with about a week in between), so I rid myself of some toxins before the feast. I'm embarrassed to say that the thing I miss most is not food...it's my evening glass of wine. Get through the first few weeks, at the most, and you can do anything! Tracy
Congrats on a successful Day 1. The first days are most definitely the most difficult, as you've discovered. I love your favorite quote...need to make that my mantra. Tracy
