About Me:
At 44 years old, I have come to a point in my life that I am ready to leave my past in the past and move forward, onward & upward. For way too many years I have let an abusive upbringing (emotional/physical/mental) and then an unhealthy 21 year toxic marriage (emotionally/mentally abusive) dictate how I have treated myself, which included abusing myself with food (SAD, fast food, bingeing, obesity, tons of processed snacks) and alcohol.
I left my parents home at 16 yrs old, and found myself in Woodstock, NY, (1981) where organic foods & health food stores abound! I fell in love with the vegetarian lifestyle, volunteered in animal rescue, danced to reggae music, and felt alive & free to be away from the situation I had left.
Unfortunately, this bliss was short-lived and I soon found myself married to someone who took pride & fun in breaking any spirit & light I had left inside of me.
I take responsibility. I take the respnsibility (rather than place blame) because I could have left & gotten out but (for lots of reasons) I stayed, and I became a very sad, lonely, fat, and alone person. I became my own worst enemy (low self respect, negative self-talk, failure to allow myself to thrive, etc). I also read somewhere once that we teach people how to treat us....
For the past 2 & 1/2 years, I have been working towards getting to a different place in my head. I accept that the past is the past. I truly believe deep in my heart that everything happens for a reason and that I HAD to go through what I DID because it will continue to help me learn & grow & find peace & help others. So, I am OK with that. I am really OK with that.
What kind of life shifts/transformations are you looking to have with Juice Feasting?
Wanting to get healthy & lose weight, I am again very drawn to a vegetarian lifestyle. When I think "eat healthier" I think vegetarian. Then, when I think vegetarian, I am drawn to how much healthier it would be to give up milk/eggs/cheese, etc... leaning towards a vegan lifestyle. Well, when reading about becoming vegan, I am drawn to the live foods a raw diet.
I stopped drinking cows milk months ago. I bought a new juicer this past Thanksgiving morning/2008. A few days before Thanksgiving, I stopped eating any meat & fish.
I am SO ready to make significant changes. I recently (just days ago) I was hunting around online, wondering if it's OK (why would it not be ok?) for a big girl (280ish lbs) to switch to a raw diet. That's when I came across Angela Stoke's story on switching to raw foods and then I read about her journey on her juice feast! WOW! I am hooked!
I read & read & watched her videos & Philip McClukey's and I am just so very touched & inspired!
At a time when I am so ready for the next steps in empowering myself, healing, detoxing, and getting as healthy as I can get, I am so thrilled to have found your sites & all the inspirational support & information!
I will be with you for the Jan/2009 Global Feast!
