March Madness!! -- Starting Again

It's 33 degrees outside, but I know better-- spring is seeping in, stealthily approarching, and definitely on its way. I missed the beginning of the big Juice Feast, apparently, but I'm not much of one for dates and deadlines, so I'm starting tonight... or tomorrow morning... whatever! The important thing is... I'm starting. This winter has been so cold, so overwhelming; I can't wait to get rid of the excesses of fat, toxins and mental clutter that have accumulated in my body and brain. I know t… Continue

Feeling Grateful!

Well, first of all, I can't write about this week without saying something about the Inauguration. It was so inspiring, and I feel so hopeful and joyful, really, about the fresh new, positive energy and vision I believe Obama is bringing to the White House. There are a lot of problems, but he seems unphased and determined. I'm going to try to remember that it's my job too, to pitch in and do my part, and I think one of the best ways I can contribute is to use the power of Intention to envision t… Continue

Day 14

Two weeks of juice fasting, and I'm starting to see real benefits. In the past year I had started having some hip joint discomfort and stiffness, and it's gone as of this week! I'm so gratified. I'm not 20 years old anymore, but at 59, no way am I ready to give in to the popular notion that I should be having joint problems. In reality, they're just a symptom of toxicity-- probably calcium deposits around the joints, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised to see how quickly they disappeared; I was… Continue

A Laid-Back Day

Today I wasn't tired, but I wasn't all gun-ho either. Had to just go with the flow. I notice that with juice fasting-- one day you're bursting with energy, and the next day you're mellow and introspective. So today I just went to the gym and did some work online and a bit of this-and-that around the house. I find when I'm fasting I face up to and solve my challenges a lot quicker. Earlier in the day when we were getting ready for the gym, I was feeling frustrated about my workout routines, whic… Continue

One More Thought Today

I have in the past always been cold to some degree in the winter when doing 100% raw, and definitely when juice fasting. That's why this winter I'm so surprised! I live in the cold northeast, where it's been in the 30s lately, and I find myself foregoing sweaters and just putting on one thin long-sleeved jersey under my coat or parka when I go outside. Usually by the time I come home from shopping I'm sweating a little bit and can't wait to get out of my coat. My husband, meanwhile, has to wear… Continue

A Great Day

Wow, today was really rewarding! For the first time since I started my fast, I can really see the weight loss, and my skin looks much healthier, and I'm starting to get that "Oh yeah, this is why I love fasting!" feeling. And something kind of funny: for some reason my hair decided to go all thick, fluffy and shiny on me this morning. I'm sure I'm delusional, but it even looks like it's grown a little bit very recently. Most importantly, an irksome physical symptom is noticeably receding, just… Continue

A Successful Retry of 'Day One'

Yesterday would have been my first day on the JuiceFeast, but I slipped up-- got cold and very hungry that evening and 'had' to eat dinner. Well, that's okay-- I've done enough fasting over many years to know: you don't always get right to it the way you plan. Sometimes you have a false start or even two. No big deal. I started up again today, and everything was smooth sailing-- no struggle!-- despite the fact that I played a 3 hour gig this afternoon in a pub that wasn't heated well. I took so… Continue

Here I Go!

This morning I started doing one of those MasterCleanse fasts, thinking I might do it for awhile, and you know, it just didn't feel right. I was thinking it was an 'easy' cleanse to do, and would be less expensive than a juice fast, but I soon realized my heart wasn't in it, and my body certainly wasn't either, for that matter. Not long after I meditated this evening, I happened to accidentally click one of those commercial channels on cable TV where people are selling things. But this time it w… Continue
