End of juice feast

I have ended my juice feast. My heart just hasn't been in it for the last week. It went from the feeling of freedom to the feeling of bondage, and I did not think continuing in that frame of mind was healthy. I'm so glad I met you all, and I wish you the best! Allison Continue

Day 20

After thinking it over, I've decided I want to stick with it. I can only continue to better myself through it, and I think I'll be happy about my decision to keep with it in the end. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually getting used to the taste of spirulina. In the beginning, even the smell of it sent me over the edge. Now it doesn't bother me a bit. Continue

Day 19

I am prayerfully considering ending my fast on Day 21. Physically and emotionally I feel good. Work that needed to be done has been done, and I feel like this is a good stopping point for me. I may come back later and do another juice feast, but for now, I feel good. I'll let you know what I decide. Continue

Day 17

Based on what I read others saying about watermelon juice, I drank only that yesterday. Although it tasted good, it was too much sugar, and I didn't like the way it made me feel. Even though my green juices weren't really tasting all that great today, I like the way they make me feel. Drinking all watermelon juice made me feel a little out of control, kind of like how I feel when I overeat or something. Continue

Day 15

Woo hoo! I've made it two weeks. I feel like I'm starting to fall into the groove of it. I've lost nine pounds (seven of which came off in the first two days). Continue

Day 12--whew, glad yesterday's over

Okay, I'm fine now. Wow, what an emotional trip. I knew I used food to cover emotions sometimes, but I really didn't know just how much. It's so interesting to be able to recognize in my mind the emotional side of it all, but then not be able to disconnect from it. It's almost like watching yourself from someone else's point of view (I know that sounds strange). Anyway, I can also see that my hardest days are when I don't sleep well the night before. Being tired makes everything harder. Last nig… Continue

Day 9

Today's been a great day, except for my poolside experience. I drank some pineapple orange juice, and the sun-exposed areas of my skin became very blotchy red. It looked like a rash, but it didn't itch, so I don't know what was going on. After an hour or so inside, it faded away. I have a new favorite juice--cantaloupe! Watermelon juice is okay, so I didn't think cantaloupe juice would be that much different, but it is velvety smooth and sweet. Oh, so yummy! Continue

Day 8

I made it through my first week! I lost 8 pounds, which is astounding to me. I think I must have started out bloated, retaining water, or something. I've been loving my GreenStar juicer. It makes juicing a lot easier (no squeezing juice out of a nut milk bag), although when I juiced some greens with cucumber and an orange, it made a big squishy mess. What have I learned this week? Not to wait too long to make juice. If I wait until I'm really hungry to start making juice, then I'm a little gru… Continue

Day 7

What a difference a day makes (and a little sleep)! It's so interesting how my energy fluctuates so dramatically from day to day. One day I have almost none, and the next day I'm great. Today was good, and I got a longer run in, which makes me happy. Today's juice: 3.5 c. lacinato kale, bok choy, celery, carrot 3.25 c. romaine, dandelion greens, celery, carrot, summer squash 4 2/3 c. green leafy lettuce, cucumber, celery, orange 3 c. pineapple, 1 tsp. BarleyMax The bok choy seemed to give the… Continue

Day 6

Today's Juice: 2.5 c. carrot, celery 4 c. dandelion greens, kale, celery, pineapple 3.5 c. leafy green lettuce, dandelion greens, celery, tomato, garlic, lemon 3 c. orange juice, 1/2 tsp. spirulina, 1 tsp. BarleyMax Low energy today. I was really tired from not sleeping well the night before. I waited up for my son to return home from work late, and then the dog needed to go outside at 3:45 am. Once I wake up in the middle of the night, it's difficult for me to fall back asleep, which resulted… Continue

Day 5

Much, much better day today. I still have phlegm in my throat but other than that I'm doing well. Thankfully the sneezing and runny nose are gone. Today's juice: 4 c. green chard, cucumber, celery, orange, lemon--yum! 1.5 c. spinach, cucumber, celery, orange, lemon 1 c. orange, 1/2 tsp. spirulina--yea! I got it down, and it was actually pretty good 3 1/3 c. dandelion greens, rainbow chard, carrots, tomatoes, summer squash, celery 10 oz. grapefruit, 1 tsp. BarleyMax I only got 1.5 cups of my s… Continue

The first four days

Day 4 I'm feeling less than ideal today. I woke up feeling mildly flu-like, although that went away as the day wore on. I have not stopped sneezing, and my nose has not stopped running. Just generally feeling a little low-energy today. I'm not even attempting my run tonight. I expect my energy to return soon, though, so I'm hopeful about that. Today's juices: 5 c. romaine, carrot, beet, tomatoes, celery, lemon 4 c. same 3 c. pear, strawberry, lemon, 1 tsp. BarleyMax 3 1/3 c. beet greens, roma… Continue
