Two weeks of juice fasting, and I'm starting to see real benefits. In the past year I had started having some hip joint discomfort and stiffness, and it's gone as of this week! I'm so gratified. I'm not 20 years old anymore, but at 59, no way am I ready to give in to the popular notion that I should be having joint problems. In reality, they're just a symptom of toxicity-- probably calcium deposits around the joints, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised to see how quickly they disappeared; I was really expecting it to take a little longer. It was extremely important to me to heal this problem, not only to assuage my wounded ego (hard to think of myself hobbling with a cane, ever), but because my work requires me to walk a LOT, and I am also very active and want to stay that way indefinitely.
It didn't escape my attention that my quick healing of joint problems was precipitated by my strong focused power of intention to heal. So what healed me? I believe in the primacy of the power of positive intention, for sure, but also my intention to be radically healthy has always (well, since my mid-20s anyway) caused this little inner voice to almost continually whisper "better eat raw plant food, fast, and practice calorie restriction."
Note to self: never juice pomegranates in the juicer again! My juicer survived, but the bottom of the hopper is all rough and sharp-edged now. I made more pomegranate/apple juice last night, but I juiced the pomegrante seeds by putting them in the blender with water and then straining it. Pretty, pretty pink stuff. Yummy.
I'm mostly doing fruit juices now, but occasionally I have a yen for a V8-type juice. Maybe I'll give in today.
