Day 8
A day of remembrance
A rainy, cold day here on 9/11, fitting as I reflect on all the lives changed forever on this day. Rockaway lost a lot of people in 9/11 – firefighters and others.
It’s been a reflective day for myself too as I stepped down from working for the Raw Spirit Festival for several reasons. Ultimately, it’s been a terrific learning experience, and I got to meet people, be of service, and make some new friends that will be friends for a lifetime. It took a major toll on my health however – or rather, my inability to balance work and me time took a toll on that, and I’m grateful to have the downtime now to address this imbalance, honor my body and its needs for healthy foods, exercise and most of all REST. My home, too, it feels good to pay attention, to clean, throw out, reorganize and paint, and hang out with my kitties.
It’s a little scary right now as I scramble for work to fill in the gaps – but I trust as long as I am action-oriented everything will be alright. It always is.
I miss my boyfriend – he’s in Florida taking care of his mother, and I miss Florida! Telling him places to go etc. is making me realize how much I miss living there and reminding me how ambivalent my choice was to leave there and come back up north. Certainly something to think about after I get out of grad school (the next big project).
It seems like there is a lot of transition for everyone right now. I’m glad to be juicing and able to handle this from a place of calm – although the desire to eat was there as I grappled with some Fear about finances. But remember – FEAR – False Evidence Appearing Real.
Just made many juices while watching a DVD in the kitchen. Need to do a bit more greens, the fruit juices are making me too spacy. Time to start freeganing again too as money for food may be a luxury in the coming weeks.
Exciting though, clothes are starting to fit and look better and I’m back in the exercise groove.
